Editorial Policy
The standards below apply to every recipe and guide on Numturel. They are stated in one place so that the expected level of rigour is clear for any page.
Standards for recipes
- A recipe gives measured quantities, the equipment required and numbered steps meant to be followed in sequence.
- Stated preparation and cooking times assume an ordinary home kitchen and not the pace of a professional one.
- A step that is unusual or easy to ruin, such as batter thickness, oil temperature or fermentation, is explained within the recipe or linked to a method guide.
- Frequent errors, ingredient swaps and heat adjustments appear only where they help the cook, and never to lengthen a page.
Accuracy of regional and historical content
Regional cuisines are treated as distinct and are not merged into one national style. Each origin section reports what is reasonably documented or broadly accepted by food writers and historians. Where an origin is disputed, shared between regions or impossible to confirm, the section states that uncertainty openly and does not settle it with a confident claim.
Exclusion of invented health and nutrition data
Calorie counts, macronutrient breakdowns and similar figures are not published, since none has been laboratory-verified for these recipes and estimated values would mislead if presented as fact. Ingredients are likewise not credited with medical benefits. A traditional or cultural belief may be reported as a belief, and is never framed as medical advice.
Food safety
Recipes using raw meat, poultry, dairy, eggs or deep frying include the matching safety guidance: safe internal temperatures, handling rules and storage limits. Unsafe treatment of frying oil, such as reheating it repeatedly beyond its smoke point or storing it badly, is never recommended.
Photography
Photographs are either made for the site or properly licensed, and none is loaded from another website. A dish without a photograph receives a designed placeholder in place of a stock or unrelated picture, so that no page misrepresents how the finished dish looks.
Reviews and endorsements
User reviews, star ratings and quotations attributed to chefs or home cooks are not published. No page should be read as an endorsement by a named person unless that person and the circumstances are real and verifiable.
Handling of corrections
A reader who finds a factual error, a measurement mistake or a doubtful regional claim can report it on the Corrections page. Each report is compared with the original recipe and, when relevant, with outside sources before any change. Well-supported disagreement about regional variation is usually settled by adding context and not by replacing one version with another.

The site currently carries no advertising. A change to that position would be disclosed here beforehand.
